Over the past few years of using the internet, various programs, scripts, and other stuff is posted to newsgroups and mailing lists...some poor, some quite good, and others that are actually rather neat :-) So I'll share those I've come across here as I find them on my machine (for those I've downloaded).
But how to start this page? Well it needs something that's quite impressive that isn't well known. So the first script to have the (dubious?) honour of being here is this fantastic sed script which is an implementation of the rather well known UNIX "dc" (desk calculator) program.
Another quite intriguing piece of code is Duff's Device, which looks at and is a practical of manual loop unrolling. The article is here in full by the original author.
Some more learned and the well-read amongst you may prefer a return to the older languages, such as Latin. Alternatively, other may want a new way to obfuscate their perl. And there is such a thing. A perl module called Lingua::Romana::Perligata , described as "Perl for the XXI-imum Century". The module is available from CPAN and will require the Filter::Util::Call module, which can be found in Filter-1.28 (also available from CPAN).
Sticking on the academic level, this personal homepage has been written completely in Latin by one I.T. professional and academic in Norway, Steinar Midtskogen. And I have to say I do like the page; it's nice to see Latin isn't completely dead. A pity I can't understand it, but one day ...
